Did you know that 1 in 8 jobs in the Canadian workforce are in agriculture and food? In Manitoba, it’s 1 in 4!

From engineering, research and processing to sales, finance and everything in between — as the world population continues to grow, the demand for skilled people to work in agriculture will grow as well.

The thinkAG Career Expo allows students to explore the endless career and entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture, learn about modern food production, and discover the diversity of agriculture-related post-secondary options.

During this one-day workshop, students in small groups will rotate through interactive stations, profiling various agricultural career paths such as agronomy, animal science, agricultural trades and technology, food development, agribusiness, and research and innovation. At each station, students will learn first-hand from somebody working in that specific field, plus participate in a hands-on activity to experience what that job entails. The workshops will also feature an introduction to agriculture and a spotlight on agriculture-related post-secondary programs.

Where does this program happen? We come to you! We bring everything we need to set up our stations in your school gym or multi-purpose room. Our staff will work with you to tailor a schedule to fit your class times. If you have any questions, please contact our Program Manager, Adelle Gervin at adelle@aitc.mb.ca

Interested in this program?

Please register your school if you are interested in participating. Registering does not guarantee we will be able to come to your school, as we are only offering three Expos per year at this time. If your school is selected to participate, you will be contacted. This program requires one teacher to register for all participating teachers and students.
