The Manitoba Seed Kit/Trousse de graines du Manitoba is a hands-on, interactive resource that introduces your class to the diversity of crops grown right here in Manitoba.

Students learn to identify seed types through interactive classification processes and build awareness of how these crops are used as food, animal feed, fibre, and biofuels, as well as being a source of ingredients for many everyday products.

There are 3 activities included in this kit:

  • Activity 1: Seed Classification
  • Activity 2: Which Crop am I?
  • Activity 3: Invent a Crop (To be used as an application and/or assessment activity)

Plus, cross-curricular activity suggestions that can be used as application and/or assessment activities.

Each Manitoba Seed Kit also comes with the educational and beautifully illustrated book about seeds, It All Starts with a Seed - How Food Grows / « Tout commence par une graine: Ces plantes qui nourissent ».

Here are two videos to show your students before you share the Seed Kit with them!
