Congratulations Jessica Canning, our 2024 AITC-M Educator Champion Award recipient!

Jessica is a Science and Geography teacher at Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School in Brandon. Through AITC-M’s Little Green Sprouts program, Jessica and her Grade 9 Science students plant and tend to a classroom garden annually. She also uses AITC-M career resources to show students opportunities in the agriculture and food industry, and is spearheading an AITC-M EngAGed Career Fair at her school for spring 2024.

Jessica’s passion for showing her students where their food comes from stems from being a full-time farmer. “Jessica’s family farm has been in operation for 130 years and the wealth of experience and knowledge that comes with that is something she brings to her classroom every day,” says colleagues and nominator Christopher Sarkonak.
